A Psalm to Soothe Your Soul

The oft-quoted Psalm 23 is a soothing balm for my soul.  When it has seemed
as though this entire year of 2023 has been a year of trials and tribulations for
Andy and I, Psalm 23 is on my lips and in my heart constantly.  I know we are
not the only ones who have had a really challenging year.  Perhaps you are in
the midst of a difficulty and you could use a little soothing of your soul.

I want to keep this article short and sweet and so here is the most soothing
Psalm I can share with you.

Psalm 23
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still
waters.
3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his
name's sake.
4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no
evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou
anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will
dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

Just like a sheep, you and I can trust our Good Shepherd (Jesus Christ) to
walk with us through the valley of the shadow of death.  Because He is with
us, we have One much greater than ourself to depend upon.  He will restore
our soul and lead us beside still waters (sheep are afraid of rushing water).
He will provide for us (green pastures) and protect us on our journey, all the
way to Heaven.

If you haven't already, I challenge you to memorize this passage and to say it
slowly, and out loud, three times a day, morning, noon, and night.  When you
say it out loud, slowly, make sure you dwell on each word and the meaning of
it.  Drink it in like a refreshing glass of the purest water.

I pray you have a blessed week!
