God is Omniscient and He Knows Everything from Beginning to End
We often project our human traits on to God which can make it difficult to understand Him and His ways. In addition to being GOOD, it is important to understand that God is also omniscient, which is, all-knowing. God exists outside of time and space as the Creator of everything and every being and He knows how His plan will unfold from beginning to end.
In Isaiah 46:8-10 God is speaking to the wayward people of Israel who were worshipping false gods and says, “Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,”
In Psalm 139, the entire chapter gives a great description of God’s omniscience and power. The writer expresses how the knowledge of the Lord is too wonderful for him to understand it. In Psalm 139:1-6 it says, “O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.”
Psalm 139:16 specifically tells us that God knows us before we were even formed in our mother’s womb. It says, “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”
In the New Testament we are given descriptions of God’s omniscience as well. In 1 John 3:20 says, “For whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.”
God knows us intimately, better than we know ourselves, as seen in Matthew 10:30. “But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.”
Romans 11:33 tells us we cannot fathom all of God’s knowledge. “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (KJV)
Regarding God’s works Acts 15:18 says, “Known to God from eternity are all his works.”
God is the only everlasting Being who has existed for eternity. It is God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit who created the earth and the humans who would populate the earth. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
I hope that you are blessed by these Scriptures and that it helps you begin to understand that God knows far more than you do about your situation, about your future, about your past, and that He cares. He loves you so much that He provided the Way for you to become His precious child, through Jesus Christ, His only Begotten Son.
Isn’t it awe-producing to know the One who knows everything? Wow! Praise be to God!
