My Artist Story

Sherry Joy Collier Art

From the time I was a little girl, I’ve longed to express the beauty and emotions I felt inside. Over the years, that longing has taken many forms—first through writing, then through my work as a counselor and expressive arts therapist, and now most fully through painting.

Art became a place of refuge for me in my younger years, and later, a way to help others process their own emotions. But when I returned to the canvas as an artist, I discovered something even deeper: each brushstroke could become an expression of worship, gratitude, and joy.

Me at the beach

Painting has become my way of pointing to God’s love as revealed through His creation. Whether it’s a painting of a bold bouquet of flowers or a painting of a serene coastal scene, my hope is that my art offers a moment of peace, a breath of joy, and a reminder that we are surrounded by beauty because we are deeply loved by the One who created it all.

My background as a therapist continues to shape how I approach my work—not just as images on a canvas, but as invitations. Each painting is an invitation to rest, to reflect, and to remember that even in life’s storms, beauty and hope remain.

It’s my prayer that those who encounter my work feel encouraged, uplifted, and embraced by God’s presence. That is why I paint.

What I value most

What I value most is pointing hearts toward the truth that God loves them and has a purpose for their lives. My paintings—whether joyful and vibrant or serene and calming—are meant to bring hope, peace, and encouragement into the spaces they inhabit.
