Feeling Lonely? You Can Have a Forever Friend!

This week we will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and I wanted to write to you about another one of God's promises. God will never leave you! God will be your forever friend.

Isn't it interesting how we can feel lonely at times, even when we are surrounded by people? There have been times, especially around Christmas, when I have found myself at a Christmas party with friends and yet, I will be struck by feelings of loneliness. It is an odd feeling, and an uncomfortable feeling, and yet, it seems to be part of the human condition.

Over the years of counseling people, I have discovered this is pretty common. We can be surrounded by people and yet those people are all distracted by the events or by other people they know better and there you sit, wondering if anyone even sees you and feeling all alone.

I want to encourage you with this awesome Bible promise from God that you can draw upon in any moment when you feel lonely. God never leaves you!

In Hebrews 13:5 it says, "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, then Jesus calls you "friend".

In John 15:15 Jesus said, "No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you."

In addition to being a friend of Jesus, you have been given the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, that dwells inside of you and is your constant companion.

John 14:26 says, "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."

All throughout Scripture, we are reminded that God is with us through thick and thin. Especially when we go through difficult times, God is always right there IN IT with us.

Check out this passage in Isaiah 43:2: "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

May Your Soul Be Warmed by God's Promise to Be with you Always and Merry, Merry Christmas from me to you!
