There are so many LOUD voices shouting at us these days. Every voice tells us we should be doing something different. When there are so many conflicting opinions and narratives telling you what you should or should not do, it can become really difficult to remain clear on what God has specifically called YOU to do during this season.
If you are living to please your fellow human beings, you will never be able to achieve it. You will end up making someone mad or hurt because you simply cannot please everyone all of the time. What you should be focused on is what your loving Creator God is telling you about yourself. God created you with a unique personality, unique strengths and even unique weaknesses. There is no other person on earth exactly like you and only God truly knows you from the inside out.
It may take some time and some deep reflecting, journaling, and pouring over God's Word to find His truths for you and about you, but it is time and effort well-spent. Once you are secure in your TRUE identity (what God says about you) then you can proceed to live out your purpose with courage, love, and clarity.
Here are a few awesome truths from God's Word that will give you a starting point as you seek to discover your authentic identity and purpose.
1. You are loved by and precious to God - God is the only One who can love you unselfishly, unconditionally, and continually.
". . . . in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:37-39
2. You are heard by God - if you are connected to God through His Son, Jesus Christ, God always hears and responds to your prayers. "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." - Jeremiah 29:12-13
3. You are gifted - God has given you special abilities that He wants you to use in your work and in your ministry to others. "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10
I encourage you to take time to get quiet, turn off ALL media, get alone with God and your journal and begin to ask God to reveal your TRUE identity according to God's perspective. He will be faithful to whisper into your heart because He loves you so very much.
