Encouragement for Those Times When People Hurt Us

Encouragement for Those Times When People Hurt Us

Truth be told, people cannot be trusted, fully. Friends may betray us, spouses might neglect us or hurt us, family members sometimes cause strife and pain . . . and yet, we need companionship. We need love and social interaction in order to survive psychologically, physically, and spiritually. While God can indeed help us heal from the hurts and betrayals we experience from our fellow humans, it can take time and growth which itself can be painful.

Where can we turn when people let us down? We can turn to the Very Best Friend of All, Jesus Christ. In John 15:15 Jesus says, "No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you."

My devotional, In Touch Ministries Daily Devotional, had a beautiful and encouraging list that I want to share with you about Jesus as the One Who . . . .

-Accepts us as we are but doesn't leave us that way.

-Is never too busy for us.

-Talks to us through His written Word.

-Listens when we pray.

-Forgives us repeatedly.

-Understands our weaknesses.

-Walks with us through trials.

-Is available to meet our every need.

-Reveals His ways and thoughts.

-Knows us better than we ourselves do.

-Encourages us throughout life.

-Is patient with our personal frailties.

-Guides our spiritual growth.

-Always tells the truth.

-Will never deceive us.

-Will never misunderstand us.

-Will never disappoint us.

-Will never reject us.

-Always keeps His promises.

-Desires the best for us.

-Loves us unconditionally.

-Gave His life for us.

-Has prepared a place in heaven for us.

-Will spend eternity with us.

So, as Your Heavenly Father brings His healing balm to your soul-wounds from your fellow humans, remember and call upon Him as your constant companion, Savior, and Friend.
