Feeling Doubts and Insecurities? Do This . . .

You are a unique, one-of-a-kind, died in the wool human. The way you learn things, do things, say things, and create things is unique to you. Even your weaknesses are a tad different than the weaknesses of others. God wants to use it all! He wants to use you despite your insecurities, fears, and any confusion about what He created you to do in this life.

I am rediscovering the Book of Exodus as I'm reading through God's Word since the beginning of this year (2025). I started with Proverbs (in January) and boy, that was good. Then I moved back to the beginning and took my time through Genesis, another Book of the Bible jam packed with incredible treasures. Then, I just kept going through Exodus and am getting close to the end of Exodus. Whew! There is A LOT in Exodus too that can be studied and applied to my life now.

Back in Exodus 4:10-12, Moses was really struggling with doubts and insecurities. It says, "Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?  Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

After a long back and forth, God accommodated Moses by allowing him to use Aaron, Moses' brother, as his mouthpiece. If you keep reading, you will find that Moses ended up saying a lot too - he spoke many times to all the people of Israel, Moses spoke with God, received the 10 commandments, the instructions for the Tabernacle, and accomplished much all with God guiding him and giving him the right words to say.

If you ever find yourself hearing God's call to do something that seems pretty hard, and not at all within your comfort zone, don't worry, you are just like all the rest of us humans (scared and insecure). But God! But God will empower you. God will give you the skills, the words, the ways, the means, the wisdom, etc. All you have to do is ask for His help and take a step of faith.

Put your foot into the waters and watch them part (Joshua 3:13-17). Stand upon the mountain where the Lord commands you to stand and He will show Himself to you (Exodus 33:18-23). God really does want to use you and your unique set of strengths and weaknesses to do His will for your good and God's glory.
